Bone Robot Quickies - Episode 1

Updated: Jul 5, 2021

There are some games that warrant a lengthy, developed review. That's what you'll typically find on BoneRobotGames. These ones require little discussion, whether it be good or bad. Bone Robot Quickies will take a brief look at a handful of games at a time.

Moving Out Play this game only if you actually enjoy moving furniture. Darksiders Genesis The Darksiders games stand out as having lots of potential, and then squandering it all painfully and awkwardly.  If you enjoy that, you'll love this ARPG-style version of it! Trine 4 A collection of simple, boring puzzles bogged down by a forgettable story, bad fighting sections, and too much character rotation. I had the most fun sabotaging my teammate. Carrion Sci-Fi game that bucks tropes by letting you play as an amorphous blob specimen that scientists are studying that breaks containment.  Quick, fun, and interesting.  Changes the gameplay at the end and suffers for it.

Guacamelee 2 Almost as good as Guacamelee 1. The Messenger Got bored after a handful of levels and had to quit. Not much to it.  Baby's first platformer.

Rogue Legacy Bigtime repetitive slog.  Tedious.  Has some quirk and charm and good ideas but throw them out in favor of mindless, slow, progression. Crackdown 3 I thought I wanted Crackdown 1 but better, and then they did exactly that with 3 and I realized you can't have a fun game on ideas alone.  Opposite of compelling. Spacelords This game was fun and neat.  Cool concept and interesting mechanics.  It was online-only and there was NO playerbase.  I played with bots, and it was boring so I uninstalled.  Unlucky. Alvastia Chronicles This game looked and felt like a game that was ported from mobile and that's because it was.  There was a weird incest joke 2 minutes in, and that theme continues for as long as it took me to quit this aberration. Outer Wilds Very interesting game concept.  I wasn't drawn in enough to continue exploring to the end but the story was mesmerizing, so I imagine many others would.  There were parts that left me with a unique sense of awe, terror, and charm that I have not felt in a game before. Drake Hollow This game was so unpolished I thought it was still in early access.  It's a slow, inefficient, collect-a-thon.  It has the worst elements of a resource management game, a tower defense, and 3D action platformer all rolled into one.
